Growing Connection, Strengthening Community

Investing in coaching is an investment in yourself your children and your family and future. It takes a global community to raise a child - and I am available to support parents world-wide over Zoom from my home in Los Angeles, California. If you are in the Los Angeles area, I would love to share conversational workshops, speak to your community and bring folks together in groups. Also possible over Zoom too. Please contact me for a chat to see how I can best support your community today!

What is Choosing Love/Peaceful Parenting?

Peaceful Parenting is one of many names used to identify the Authoritative style of parenting, which is one of four created in the 1960’s by Diana Baumrind's research.   This style is recognized as the most effective and ideal style as it combines high expectations with high support.  In other words, parents are leaders who set clear expectations, hold limits with empathy and welcome all emotions.  It is a balanced combination of nurturing and firm.  It is relational, in that the child’s voice is heard and parents and children collaboratively solve problems.  It is power with not power over.  Children gain emotional intelligence, are confident, self disciplined, creative problem solvers, curious and critical thinkers.

How do I know Coaching is right for me?

You are struggling as a parent, with a specific challenge

You need help creating routines for the morning and bedtime, transitions are hard, etc…

You are overwhelmed by parenting in general

You have heard so many opinions and read so many books, you are confused

You feel you have tried everything and nothing is working

You want to be on the same page as your parenting partner, or at least close

You are stuck in a cycle of shame, guilt and punishments and don’t know how to get out

You have read books and are stuck in theory unable to practice in real life

You feel alone and need support

You feel cranky, snappy, angry and it feels like you are always shouting and yelling at your kids

You know what you don’t want to do and don’t know what to do instead

You really want to deepen your understanding of your children, their behavior and your family

You are committed to being the change you want, knowing it will probably be hard and messy before it feels better.  Kinda like cleaning out a closet!

Basically, if you are a parent or caregiver of a child, especially under the age of 12. That said, it is never too late to increase connection with your child and I have worked with many parents of teens into young adulthood.

Are you LGBTQ+ affirming?

Yes.  I am happy to work with all families of all children.  The make up of your family, how you became a family and the individuals in your family are your story, which I will celebrate and support.

Where and How do we meet?

I am located in Los Angeles and I work with parents all over the world, mostly on Zoom.  If you have a strong preference for another way of meeting, please let me know.

How long are sessions?

The first session is 90 minutes.  All subsequent sessions are an hour.

How many sessions do I need? And how often will we meet?

That really depends on you, your needs and what feels supportive.  It is common to meet once a week in the beginning and then switch to every other week for as long as you are wanting support. Some parents have a specific challenge they are working to shift and come for 6-12 sessions.  It is also very common for parents to stay with me longer, checking in once every month, or a few times a year. It is nice to have a touchstone and one thing you can count on in raising humans is that things are constantly changing.  I am happy to join you on your journey as long as it is helpful.  It is really up to what feels right to you.

Do you work with parenting teams? The whole family?

I work with anyone who is a part of the parenting/caregiving team.  Caregivers/parents can meet with me together, or separately depending on your needs.  I have worked with nannies and grandparents too.  Because parents and caregivers set the tone, I work only with parents/caregivers, not with children.

Do you take insurance?

No, I do not.  I am not a therapist.  I am a certified parent coach and coaching is not covered by insurance.

What is your fee? Do you have equitable pricing?

My fee is $150 an hour.  That said, support is not supportive if it is stressful.  If you are in a position to pay $200 an hour, please do so.  If that fee creates stress and/or your family does not have savings to live on for more than two months and you do not own property - please let me know and we will work to find something that works for both of us.

Do you have packages?

During your first session, we will discuss how many sessions you would like to pay for at a time.  Most parents buy sets of 3, which is my minimum recommendation starting out.  It is common to purchase 6 or 10 sessions at a time.

How do I pay?

During our first session, we will discuss how often you want to meet and how many sessions you want to purchase at once.  After, I will send you an invoice through Paypal and you can choose your payment method.  Payment is due upon receipt.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please give 24 hours notice to reschedule, or be happy to pay for the session.  If a child is unexpectedly sick, I understand and there is no fee.

Do you do home visits?

I do not.  I work with parents and caregivers only.
